FAQ
CBD 101
What is CBD?
CBD, also known as cannabidiol, Is a phytocannabinoid found in the flowers and leaves of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant. It has often been recognized as beneficial and supportive to biological functions in humans and animals. Cannabidiol is just one of the 60+ naturally occurring cannabinoid compounds found in Cannabis Sativa L. Our CBD products are created from certified industrial hemp and may sometimes be referred to as ‘hemp oil’ or ‘CBD hemp oil’.
What is CBD-A?
CBD-A (Cannabidiolic Acid) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in raw cannabis plants and is the parent molecule of CBD. CBD-A is converted to CBD through a process called decarboxylation, which occurs when cannabis is exposed to heat. Once the cannabis plant is heated, CBD-A breaks down from its acid form into CBD. The Chemical structures of CBD and CBD-A are very similar; the only difference is that CBD-A contains an extra COOH group which is removed when decarboxylation occurs. Because CBD-A is not involved with combustion or solvents, it is looked at as a more natural and immaculate material.

Will CBD make me 'high'?
CBD is a non-psychoactive compound of the industrial hemp plant and will not make you ‘high’. Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the prominent psychoactive compound found in hemp and marijuana that is often associated with the ‘high’ feeling marijuana users may experience. Certified industrial hemp plants must contain less than 0.3% THC on a dry weight basis to be qualified for use in products. At Prana Principle, we take this a few a steps further using unique isolation chromatography and third-party lab testing to remove THC while retaining important phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Third party testing is performed on every batch of products we produce to maintain compliance, quality, and potency while maintaining 0.0% THC.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a biochemical control system of neuromodulator lipids and specialized receptors, which are constructed to only accept certain cannabinoids. When a specific cannabinoid or combination of cannabinoids bind to a specialized receptor, a change in the cell’s activity occurs called “signal transduction.” Your ECS helps maintain balance in the body and ensures that you stays on track.
Is CBD addictive?
CBD has no intoxicating effects and therefore zero value for recreational use. Although it is often pursued for therapeutic effects, there is currently no research suggesting the use of CBD to be habit-forming or addictive.
Are hemp and marijuana the same plant?
Hemp and Marijuana are actually from the same plant species, Cannabis sativa, but not the same plant. Hemp is defined as having naturally low THC content (below 0.3% THC) while marijuana has become known for high THC content (typically 10-25% THC), hence its psychoactive properties.
Can I take CBD on an airplane?
Yes! With the 2018 Farm Bill in place, TSA updated their guidelines: “Products/medications that contain hemp-derived CBD or are approved by the FDA are legal as long as it is produced within the regulations defined by the law under the Agriculture Improvement Act 2018.”

Yes, we use an internationally recognized lab called Eurofins to adhere to all our rigorous standards.
Are your products legal in the 50 states?
The 2018 Farm Bill (signed into law on December 20th, 2018) re-schedules industrial hemp and various derivatives thereof, including CBD, from the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) when produced in compliance with a state hemp program. Federally, this allows CBD to no longer be viewed as a “controlled substance”, and qualified CBD can be sold and transported legally across the US. State by state legislation is still changing. We recommend consulting your state law offices for questions about the CBD law in your specific area.
