The day has finally come where you may peacefully take your hemp-derived CBD products on an airplane! But be cautious and know where your CBD is coming from.
0.0% is the magic number.
If you have upcoming travel plans, make sure you are all set to bring your 0.0% THC, CBD and hemp oil products on the plane. TSA has a policy in regard to checking and carrying on hemp-derived products. Before the 2018 Farm Bill, TSA did not distinguish the difference between marijuana and hemp. Their policy, since then, has been updated to, “Products/medications that contain hemp-derived CBD or are approved by the FDA are legal as long as it is produced within the regulations defined by the law under the Agriculture Improvement Act 2018.” This means hemp-derived products containing 0.3% THC or less are allowed aboard an airplane.
*Tip: If you plan on carrying on liquid products (oil), ensure that they are 3.4oz or less and are enclosed in a 1 quart-sized zip lock bag. Each passenger is allowed 1 zip lock bag for liquids.
Don’t get ahead of yourself just yet.
Marijuana and marijuana-derived products are still federally illegal. Protect yourself and make sure you know where your CBD is coming from.
